I have an MS in business analytics. There wasn't a single class in my grad program where we weren't coding, deriving gradients, optimizing SQL queries, etc. Does business analytics just mean something totally different in industry than in academia…?

    Hi Jen,
I have been following your videos these days a lot. I am an undergraduate student studying Industrial Engineering. And in Nepal, we don't have majors in data analyst. But i do have a quite a good background in stats, operation research using Excel and crystalball simulation. That's all I have right now but I look forward to get an internship and eventually, a job in data analyst. I do not have a strong programming background. But I just want to pursue Data Science as a career. Is it possible to look forward to this field despite having major in some other?
Your suggestion will be very valuable.
    Thanks!

Hi, I think you can help me with this. I am a postgraduate student in a business degree geared more towards business analytics but have also developed a lot of my technical skills such as data visualisation with tableau and power bi, database with sql and Python. What kind of role should I be applying for would it be a technical business analyst. As I am more educated in the business side but have an interest in technical aspects as well? Thanks

Business Analyst is sometimes just a job title used by departments to hire technical people but not have to have them report to IT Departments. Sometimes its just cost center related.
