Deep Learning With Java ☕ Not Python 🐍

[ad_1]

Is it possible to do Deep Learning with Java not Python 🐍? In this episode of Big Data Big Questions I explore the options for Java programmers in the world of Deep Learning. Recently Deep Learning has attracted a lot of Data Engineers and Data Scientist because of the ability to use Neural Networks to analyze data and train models. Most examples of Deep Learning use Tensorflow or Pytorch with the Python APIs. Where are all the options for the Java Data Engineers & Data Scientist? Learn about Java based Deep Learning frameworks and if it’s something you should learn in this episode of Big Data Big Questions.

There doesn't seem to be a good reason not to use python layer of tensorflow. It should be easier to learn a new language than waste time on reimplementing framework in the language you like. You will spend life on that and never catchup with the development of the whole community. The tensorflow core is C++ code if I understand correctly python is just the wrapper so it should be as computationally efficient as it gets.

Hello Thomas, I watched your video and this video made me curious about your opinion regarding programming language for deep learning.

I studied Java in college, but haven't used it much for the past 8 years. Now I am interested in building a project, however, the project is still in brainstorming phase. Could you please help me to answer these question ?

    1. Does the programming language usage is based on type of application? for e.g. image classification works best with Python etc.
    2. I haven't used Java much, so i might need to revisit the books & college notes, do you think its worth it or should i start with something easier (from scratch) such as Python or C++ (sorry for calling these 2 easier 🙂 ?
