How to Become a Data Analyst

[ad_1]

HOW TO BECOME A DATA ANALYST // As this field continues to grow, there are more and more jobs opening up. But how do you become a data analyst? I’ve worked with data analytics for over a decade. I’ll go through 5 steps to getting your first data analyst job.

Data analysts work in a massive variety of fields. Some are more programming heavy (both data analysts and data scientists) and others are business analysts that look more at process and are very light on programming. The field you want to enter can make a huge difference in how you prepare for your first job.

Hi there! I'm currently deciding which degree to apply for. If I were to select a Physics degree would that harm my chances of getting a job as a data analyst?

I’m doing a Neuroscience degree at the moment and recently got into data analysis in Python and R. As I was looking through data analysis internships I’ve noticed that most of them are restricted to only Economics/ Maths/ Stats students. That is very sad, an internship should give a chance to the natural sciences as well because we actually have lots of programming and data analysis into our work. 🙁

Hey I'm a 32 year old looking to make a change into Data Analytics. Just wanting to get your thoughts on Analytics Master's programs, I'm planning on enrolling in one once I get my SAS BASE programmer Cert. I'm just curious as to what employers think of those degrees as they have just started popping up within the last few years.

Thank you for this video with great information! My long term goal is to become a data scientist/machine learning engineer. My short term goal is to become a data analyst before the end of 2020 as I have heard and read that is a good starting point. My question is: Will spending 2-3 hours a day 5-6 days a week learning SQL, Python, touching up on statistics and math, and pursuing a certificate in data science from the University of Washington put me in a good position to land a data analyst job before 2020? I only ask this because I have a masters in exercise science and have been unable to find work. Many of the jobs available in my current degree field require working in a clinical setting along with having to interact with patients and I have no desire for that type of work. I enjoy crunching numbers and enjoy learning to code using Python. My favorite thus far has been learning SQL. I did have to do a large amount of graduate course work involving statistics utilizing SPSS and Excel. Getting my foot in the door with a data analyst job would be a life changer for me.

This is something a lot of HUMAN BEINGS could do , the thing that SCARES a lot AWAY is those TWO WORDS she has is USING as a JOB B DESCRIPTION. It's really nothing but LOGICAL DEDUCTION or LOGICAL THINKING . Any and everybody can THINK LOGICALLY , only does it APPLIE to this JOB but others as WELL for EXAMPLE LAW ENFORCEMENT all INDIVIDUALS in this FEILD must THINK LOGICALLY it ORDER to o SOLVE CRIMES . There are others FEILDS in LIFE which one it is just as APPLICABLE all FIELDS of ENGINEERING REQIURE it . As the say anything n BUSINESS ' IT THE INDUSTRY STANDARD ' for almost two everything in LIFE . Any and everyone can do it they just do not KNOW and UNDERSTAND the FACT they can until SOMEONE EXPLAINS to them. So NEVER LISTEN to anyone else telling YOU ,YOU can not do something in LIFE for ewhat there MOTIVE in telling YOU that wh n they can USALLY do it THEMSELVES.
