Use Jupyter Notebooks within VSCode (Visual Studio Code) in 2020

[ad_1]

Jupyter Notebooks (.ipynb) are a great companion for Data Science prototyping and VS Code is a good friend of Python scripting (.py). Thanks to VSCode now you can use Jupyter Notebooks within VS Code (Visual Studio Code) – rather than switching between browser and IDE.

This video demonstrates

+ Creating a new Jupyter Notebook within VSCode
+ Install Jupyter Notebook (if not)
+ Jupyter Notebook for VSCode Shortcuts, Tips and Tricks
+ Variable Explorer for Datasets and Objects (like Pandas Dataframe)
+ Plot Viewer for Plots (like Matplotlib Plots)

    Hi, I have a little problem. Python decorators doesn't work in vscode, bot work in vscode jupyter. Do you know how to fix it?

    Example:

    #Decorator are just function that take function as first

    #parameter and return a function

    def logging(f):

    def decorator_function(*args, **kwargs):

    print('executing '+f.__name__)

    return f(*args, **kwargs)

    return decorator_function

    #Use it like this

    @logging

    def hello_world():

    print('Hello World')

    hello_world()

    returns an error:

    >>> def logging(f):

    … def decorator_function(*args, **kwargs):

    … print('executing '+f.__name__)

    … return f(*args, **kwargs)

    … return decorator_function

    #Use it like this

    … @logging

    File "<stdin>", line 7

    @logging

    ^

    SyntaxError: invalid syntax

    Any idea about how you can add line numbers in each cell? I know that if I press CTRL + L when I select each cell manually, line numbers appear. But I don't know the option to make this mode be the default.

    How do you make pandas methods appear when typing pd.? In my case it doesn't show the methods and the method definition. Somehow intellisense is not working…
